Today we have a guest post from Slyde Handboards blogger and stoke representative, Sarah Webb! She shares with us her tips on how to stay active and bikini body fit, without even knowing it… music to our ears! Check out her post below…
It always starts as a good intention. You set your alarm for bright and early so you can hit the gym or get a run in before work. But when that alarm goes off, most of us hit the snooze button and dig back under the covers, mumbling things like, “I can do it tonight after work,” or, “I’m just too tired.” Exercising doesn’t have to be a chore. Here are a few activities that are so fun that you’ll forget you’re working out.
Hiking
All you need are some comfortable clothes, a pair of athletic shoes and water. Walking uphill makes for an excellent fat-burning session, and really works your thigh and glute muscles. A backpack with your supplies adds a little bit of a weight-training component to your hike. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, Hollywood’s Runyon Canyon has very popular, dog friendly trails for just about any difficulty level. Bring your friends, too! Hiking is a great social activity, and you can use each other to push yourselves. Before you know it, you’ll be looking down from the top!

Biking
You can take a ride down the beach, around town, or just around your neighborhood. Wherever you go, you’ll be working your leg muscles, burning calories and taking in the scenery. To get some added strength and really work up a sweat, tackle some hills or race your friends. If you’re going for a long ride, make sure you bring some water!

Beach Volleyball
Get your friends and/or family together and bring them down to the beach. Most state beaches have volleyball courts set up in the sand that you can use. You can play with as big a team as you want, or you can make it more of a challenge and play in teams of two. Dashing back and forth in the sand will strengthen your calves and work your core. Don’t forget to wear your favorite two-piece, since you’ll be getting a great tan while your playing. All you need is a volleyball, sunscreen, sunglasses and water.

Slyde Handboarding
You don’t need to swim mind-numbing laps to get that all-body tone that water workouts provide. Also called handplaning, handboarding is bodysurfing with a small board attached to one or both hands. Swimming to catch the waves and riding those awesome barrels will help build your endurance, give you an awesome cardiovascular workout and put a smile on your face all at the same time. There’s nothing like the thrill of sliding down the face of a glassy wave! Venice-based Slyde Handboards puts out a line of professionally designed boards that will give you the ride of your life. All you need is your Slyde Handboard, your favorite swimsuit and maybe a rash guard or wetsuit if it’s chilly! Whether you’re “slyding” alone or with a buddy, you’re bound to forget you’re working out.
